Terms of Service

Simple, plain-English agreements on what you own, what we license, and how the software is provided.

1. License Grant

Cloakspire is licensed, not sold. You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the desktop application. Free licenses are limited to a single project namespace. Pro licenses unlock unlimited namespaces, terminal simulator connections, and code scanner integrations.

A Pro license key is issued to you personally and is meant for your own use across your own devices - a work laptop and a home desktop, or a reinstall, are all fine. It is not technically limited to a fixed number of machines, in keeping with Cloakspire staying fully offline with no license-activation server. That trust cuts both ways: the license is non-transferable, so sharing, publishing, or reselling your key to activate Cloakspire for someone else is not permitted under this license.

2. Software Ownership

We own all code, visual interfaces, marketing assets, and software configurations for Cloakspire. You own your database files (`.evx` files), all master passwords, encryption keys, and environment variables. We have no way to access, retrieve, reset, or delete your credentials.

3. Master Passwords & Loss of Data

Your master password is the sole key used to derive your local database decryption key.If you lose your master password and your recovery kit, you lose access to your vault. We cannot recover your password or your vault files under any circumstances.

4. Disclaimer of Warranty

Cloakspire is provided "AS IS", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and noninfringement. In no event shall the authors or copyright holders be liable for any claim, damages or other liability, whether in an action of contract, tort or otherwise, arising from, out of or in connection with the software or the use or other dealings in the software.

5. Third-Party Integrations

Cloakspire integrates directly with external APIs (Vercel and GitHub). We are not responsible for any service interruptions, API breaches, or billing incidents that occur on those third-party platforms.

6. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with local consumer laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.
